Pricing

$8per seat, per month — billed annually

$96 a year, per seat. No tiers, no usage metering, no per-repository surcharge. A seat is a person, and it follows them across every machine and every repository they work in.

Annual rather than monthly for an honest reason: your license is a signed file verified on your own machine, so it works for exactly as long as it says and nothing can reach in and change that. Billing you monthly for something that cannot be switched off monthly would be pretending otherwise. Monthly returns when it can be done properly.

plumb 1.0.1 is available now — see what has been tested.

Early Supporter — first 100

$48 / year ($4/mo), locked in for life on renewal — not a first-year rate that quietly doubles. It is applied at checkout automatically; there is no code to enter.

One hundred of them. When they are gone the code stops working and the price is $96 like everyone else’s — there is no second batch.

Most of plumb needs no license

Reading is free. Finding what your repository declares, surfacing what it requires, showing which checks your documentation never mentions, and installing the hook — none of those execute anything, and none of them will ever need a license.

Only plumb check needs one, because it is the only command that runs your repository’s own commands. That line is the safety boundary rather than a pricing one — it existed in the code before money did.

So you can find out whether plumb is any use on your repository before paying anything. No trial to start, no card, no clock running.

What a seat includes

  • Discovery, what a repository requires, execution, and verdicts — every command that is finished. plumb drift ships marked experimental and is deliberately not part of what a seat buys.
  • Every machine you personally use. No activation limit, no deactivation dance when you replace a laptop.
  • All updates within the major version you bought.
  • Email support from the person who wrote it.

What happens after you pay

Your license key is emailed to you automatically, usually within a couple of minutes of the payment clearing. Activate it with plumb activate <key> and plumb check works from that moment on, on every machine you use.

If it has not arrived within an hour — check spam first — write to support@plumbing.sh with the address you paid from and you will get a key back.

How the license works

Your license is a signed file you activate once. plumb verifies it on your machine, offline, every time it runs. There is no license server to be down, no check-in, and nothing about your use is transmitted — which is also why it works air-gapped and behind a corporate proxy.

If a renewal is late, plumb keeps working for seven days past the expiry and tells you. Cards fail and invoices sit in approval queues; that should not stop you working.

Teams

Same $8 per seat. Annual invoicing, purchase orders, a security review, or an air-gapped deployment are all fine — that is a conversation rather than a checkout page, and I would rather work out the terms with the first few teams than guess at them now.

Refunds

There is no automatic refund button, and that is deliberate. If plumb is not doing what this site says it does, email support@plumbing.sh with a screenshot and what you expected to happen instead.

I have no problem issuing a refund. I would rather fix the problem — and I cannot fix what I never see. A refund with no explanation costs you a few minutes and costs the next person the same bug.

Is there a trial?

Not a timed one. Everything except plumb check is free forever, so you can run plumb on your own repositories and see exactly what it finds before you spend anything. If it finds nothing useful there, it will tell you that too — and you will have paid nothing to learn it.

Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax your jurisdiction adds at checkout.
